Automated enforcement has never been on a DC ballot. So we are asking the people who could change that, the Council and the candidates for mayor, one simple question. Their answers go here, in public, as they come in.
Whoever wins in November controls DDOT, the budget, and every camera in the District. Per June 2026 reporting, Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George leads the race to be DC's next mayor. She backed cameras in school zones, a narrow safety use that is a long way from defending the citywide sprawl, so she is no reflexive opponent, and that is exactly why her answer matters. A leader who believes in the cameras can still believe residents deserve a vote on them. We are asking her, and every candidate, to commit now.
Thirteen members: the Chairman, four elected citywide, and one per ward. Any of them can move a public vote. Here is where each stands, and where we are in asking.

The more residents who sign, the harder it gets for any official to keep this off the ballot. Add your name, and we will keep asking until every one of them is on the record.
